CONFIDENCE – BELIEVE IT, ACHIEVE IT
CONFIDENCE – BELIEVE IN YOURSELF
For some of us this can seem like one of the hardest things in the world. Often we feel like no one else believes in us, or only a few, so why should we believe in ourselves? In this case maybe if you feel like no one else does it is exactly the reason you should believe in yourself.
The bottom of this article includes some great power phrases and questions to use as internal mantras, or family mottos, to help ourselves and our kids believe in our own potential!
KNOW YOUR VALUE
Not just to others, but know your value to yourself, take some time each day to realize just how much each decision and thing you do might affect someone else’s life.
Think about how your decisions might affect a family members life, a co workers life, even someone who works at a store you frequent.
If you don’t value yourself much then maybe try doing things that you see as providing value to others. Working on your compassion, courtesy, and respect is a great way to start.
YOU WILL FEEL MORE CONFIDENT WHEN YOU HELP OTHERS FEEL CONFIDENT.
Believing in others and helping them believe in themselves almost feels like a shortcut to confidence sometimes. When we know we are doing our best and improving someone’s life then we know that our life is providing value. When we recognize that value it becomes easier to believe in your own personal value.
SAME WITH PERSONAL VICTORY
Personal victory is built in to programs like martial arts. Breaking down big goals into smaller ones and working up through the hard obstacles that make many want to quit only to manage to accomplish something you never thought you could is a great feeling. We call this feeling personal victory.
Personal victory is a realization that you can do it. You just maybe didn’t understand how to break it down or put the work in before. Once you have done that process once or twice it becomes easier to recreate the process in different areas of your life.
Eventually, this allows you to go through something or try something that is hard and remind yourself that you have been through worse and succeeded. This is a great booster in confidence.
DANGERS OF OVER CONFIDENCE
It is important to note that just like anything else, maintaining a certain balance in relation to what goes on in your life is important to all aspects. Confidence is one of them.
Believing in yourself and knowing you can accomplish something, is not the same thing as being cocky, or rubbing it in someones face bragging with no humility.
Being confident is a personal thing, a self believe that permeates your actions and how you carry yourself. If it begins to permeate your words you may be crossing the line between confidence and cockiness, which is often a sign that deep down, the confidence you think you are showing on the surface isn’t really there.
Other people can see right through it too. True confidence and belief in yourself doesn’t have to be blasted to the world. People can innately tell someone who believes in what they are doing.
KNOW YOUR WHY
Another important factor for me to confidence is knowing your why. You will always have moments of being down and losing a bit of your belief in yourself. Everybody does that. Knowing your why in these moments can help you bring your mind back around to keep yourself going. Know why you want to do something, know your value, know why you believe in yourself, and know why it is a value to others.
