People are like a flea circus..
Do you know how trainers create flea circus acts? By taking advantage of the negative attitude of the flea.
Most fleas can jump more than 100 times their height, but trainers will restrict them from jumping so high. First, they decide how high they want the fleas to jump. The fleas are placed in a jar with the lid on it at just about the same height they want the fleas to jump.
For the first few hours, the fleas will keep trying to jump as high as they can, reach for the stars while repeatedly banging their heads on the lid.
After a while the fleas begin to jump with less force. Eventually, all of them jump consistently to one inch below the lid to avoid the pain of hitting it.
The flea becomes conditioned to avoid pain and will not jump as high as the lid level. When the trainer takes the lid off, the fleas continue to restrict themselves to the same jump as if the lid were still on. In face, the fleas will likely never jump out. This is negative conditioning.
If you are generally focused on the negative, or put a lid on a persons efforts, they are never going to find out how high they can jump.
Remove your lid.
Don’t make it a habit of putting lids on others.
